On October 1, 1926 Northwest Airlines (Airways) had its first flight from Minneapolis to Chicago. 75 years later after withstanding many trials, Northwest is now one of the top airlines in the world. From Northwest Airways, to Northwest Orient, to Northwest Airlines. Lets celebrate!
Thank you Northwest Airlines!

An impressive milestone and sad that it will not be celebrated in proper fashion this year. Looking forward to the 100th anniversary.  Smile

Happy birthday Northwest!

If the events of the past 2 weeks didnt happen, and all of the airlines money troubles, I think we would of seen a 75th birthday livery

Today not only marks the 75th Anniversary of the inception of Northwest Airlines, it also marks the 15th Anniversary of Herman having his tail painted red (the Northwest-Republic merger).

Iflewrepublic: I completley forgot that was today! What a lot we have to celebrate.

WHY DIDN'T NORTHWEST HAVE ANY COMMERCIALS OR STICKERSONTHE PLANES? I guess cause money is so bad right now.

In response to your question, I couldn't tell you. When I realized that it was also the 15th anniversary of the merger, my heart began to ache. I've also wondered where we would be today if we stayed independent. Oh, how I long for the good old days...

Guess I went a little overboard on the pictures, but I couldn't help it.
