I'm flying next week, for the first time since the attacks. I'm concerned about carrying my scanner. Do I have anything to worry about? Additionally, I always request to visit the cockpit before and after the flight. Is this still possible or will such a request draw negative attention? Thanks for your insight.

Jsf119,
Thanks for the FYI, but I am aware of that rule. I use it in the terminals.
