Today the Egyptian flag carrier called Egypt Air announced that they will suspend temporaly the service to Los Angeles. Egypt Air will continue to serve United States only via New York JFK with a daily flights to Cairo served with a modern Boeing 777-200. Egypt Air has suspended their flights to Karachi, Aden, Sanaa and Los Angeles but they hope resume the services to these destinations soon. I think that Egypt Air would resume the flights the next year.

Egyptair has made the correct decision to drop these routes. None of these cities have ever been profitable, and were only flown for political reasons. Fortunately it appears that some wise folks decided to pull the plug on these services. There are many other flights still operated by MS that are not profitable and need to be dropped as well.
Hopefully MS will use the extra capacity to build frequency on key profitable routes. There are several MS routes which are not daily service and need to be. Hopefully this is a good sign.
