We look at the past couple of weeks. Everything has gone to hell.
*The tragedy on September 11th.
*Ansett Australia has basically been destroyed.
*Swiss Air has been destroyed.
*Lay Offs all over the world as a consequence of Sept 11th.
Everything has changed which is a tragedy in itself.
Never have the countries in the world seem so close together. As I an from Australia, I feel as though a fellow countrymen...a brother has been taken away.
We are no longer allies.. we are brothers.
We all need to stand strong through these times. As I have always said. 'We'll get there' and we will.

I couldn't have put it better myself. It seems like all of the airlines I wanna fly are going under. My dream was to jumpseat in a Finnair MD11, but with all this talk about steel bars over the doors and sky marshalls--fat chance.

Don't forget about Midway airlines. They are out of business too.

Hate to say it, but Midway was already at Chapter 11 before Sept. 11.
Add Sabena to the list
What is really the biggest tragedy of all is the employees that got fired or laid off. Imagine that. Working for a company for 30+ years and getting fired because of the economy.
How many employees in total so far have been affected?

Over 100000 -- that's just for the US airlines -- not even considering the airlines that are laying off, or have gone under competely in the rest of the world.
