On Monday, when I was at Stansted at 17:55, I saw a Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 777 at the holding point at the runway. Why was this aircraft there?

I saw it as well as I flew out on SK2502. Wasn´t it parked outside the FLS hanger? Maybe some kind of maintenance? All cargo doors were open at that time.

Cheers

I actually saw that 777 taking off while waiting for my flight to Trieste. It was interesting to see that bird at Stansted..

I seriously think I just creamed my pants without any influence from any outside variables.

Actually, I have noticed Saudi Arabian 747SPs and L1011s at Stansted several times, and the Dubai government 747SP, too. I don't think it's anything special. The Arabian VIP planes are regular visitors in London - Heathrow and Stansted (I have not flown out of Gatwick or Luton lately, but I would imagine they are not too uncommon there, either)

Regards

Its not unlikely that it was a VIP transport.
We had Saudi 777 at cologe and 743 at Duesseldorf recently - both some kind of VIP.

Cheers,

Jan

I think you can see Saudia Arbian's plane all over the world with their Kings, Prince...(the royal family)'s VIP travel  Smile

Saudi Royal flight regularly use the airport on shopping trips to London. If it was a 777 it would have been a minor royal, if it's one of the 747's then it's more likely somebody from higher up the ranks.

Certainly the Kings wives use 747-SP's for shopping trips fairly regularly into STN.

I tried to convince airfield ops to stick them and an El Al 744 next to each other once, oddly enough they declined!
