Two coucourses at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport were closed for 3½ hours Sunday when a security device gave what turned out to be a false reading indicating explosives in a carry-on bag.
No explosives were found. The concourse shutdowns left passengers milling about the terminal at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, which has more than 600 flights daily.
The concourses which handle Continental and Northwest flights reopened about 6:15 p.m. after FBI agents, police and bomb-sniffing dogs checked the area.
From the AP
Reuben Sheperd, director of the city agency that runs the airport, said the concourses were evacuated when a device indicated a piece of carryon baggage might have explosives.
A woman, who had passed through the security checkpoint, was stopped and her bag was seized. She was checked and released.

Thanks for the info, Alpha_1. I've been at work since 3:00 PM so I didn't know about it until I saw your post.
I assume the closed concourses were C & D, since those handle CO and NW and have common security.
Some thoughts and updates:
1. Do you think it would be prudent for them to put a new security gate in the tunnel to Concourse D? I dunno, it would be duplicate effort in some ways, but might be a good safeguard.
2. The 100th Bomb Group site seems to be open for spotting now. I've been there three times since my run-in with the a** from Tenable and there hasn't been a cop in sight.
3. Have any of you noticed that the a/c seem to be taking off at a steeper climb rate since Sept. 11? Could this be for safety reasons, or am I just seeing a change in a/c performance due to the weather?
4. I'm in the process of loading some photos from the observation deck onto my website. They may be the last ones I ever get...
