I think United Airlines will start 777 service to Asia but only to Tokyo and Osaka. But I think they will expand there 777 service beyond there Tokyo mini-hub. For routes from Tokyo-Singapore or Hong Kong-Delhi. Right they use there old 747 aircraft.

When I was in Tokyo I think I saw a UA 777-200 but it might have been a 767-300. I did see alot of 747-400 (One was leaving from Seattle too) and I saw alot of older 747-200's.

.....It is kind of weird when you go to the Tokyo-Narita Airport you see more Northwest Airlines or United Airlines aircraft then Japan Airlines or All Nippon Airways aircraft. Japan's own airlines.

United 777s are not going to the Orient. They are just going to Hawai. The aircraft you saw was most likely a 767 because United wouldn't have a 777 there.

But United Airlines has many routes beyond Tokyo or Hong Kong to Bangkok or Singapore and on some flights they use the 747 "classic" ...Are they just going to replace that with 747-400 aircraft or go with the 777-200 aircraft.

The 777s will only be going to Hawaii most likely. They will have 51 747-400s that will pick up the slack when the "Classics" are with drawn from service.

I wonder also if United Airlines will start to expand it's domestic routes with 777-200 service. I know for sure that they were planning to start 777-200 flights to Seattle from Washington.

If you look at the United Airlines post below, you will learn that they are planning to operate a 747-400 between Denver and Chicago. This will be the first 747 service for United from Denver according to a forum user.
