Does anyone know what happened to the QF A300's that they aquired in taking over Australian Airlines? If i recall there were 4, and at the time QF had trouble selling them. There were maintenance issues. Does anyone know the story?

Cheers,

Dave

VH-TAC is registered N371PC
VH-TAD is registered N372PC
VH-TAE is registered N373PC

Hi,

all 4 (VH-TAA,TAC,TAD,TAE) were sold and converted to freighters. Currently, they are flying with Express.Net Airlines hauling cargo with U.S. registrations. I do not remember, however, QF having problems selling them. They were nice changes to QF fleet at the time, and passengers liked them quite a bit.

Regards,

VH-OJO

Everyone seems to be forgetting the second one that TN bought - VH-TAB.

I think that this one went to Air Niugini (one of two, one of which was retruned after a while) - not sure what happened after it left there.

I do recall when VH-TAA passed through Singapore Changi Airport on its delivery flight . . . smartly painted in the beautiful livery of Trans Australian Airlines.

And the Country Manager of TAA in Singapore, Mr Len Lambourne was very hospitable in letting me get a close-up look at this beauty!

Subsequent delivery flights seemed to transit BKK instead.

- whilst nice, was nothing compared to the Australian Airlines livery, one of the best liveries to ever grace an aircraft.

Photo of it in JAS colours (like the old Airbus House colours) is on page 32 of Colin Addison's book "Airbus".

Interestingly "Airliners in Australian Service" by Eric Allen lists it as going to "TOA Domestic Airlines"?

Agree.

Be interesting to see if QF revive it for the "new" "Australian Airlines"?

FYI Japan Air System (JAS) is the new name for TOA Domestic Airlines- sometimes referred to as "TDA" just to add confusion!

My favourite Airline and my favourite airlines aircraft.
Hence the username.

I have nothing productive to say other than that, but since its so dear to my heart, i thought i should atleast comment  Smile
