Well, they do. VP-BUZ and VP-BUA. I know they fly to JFK, BHX, and Kiev. Maybe to AMS and LHR as well.

From the same place all airlines get the money to buy new aircraft (no, not the tooth fairy).

Actually, I believe that Uzbekistan has some valuable natural resources, like oil or gas. The airline is subsidized/partly owned by the government.

Uzbekistan Airways also operate some Airbus A310-300s, 757-200s for international, and RJ-85 for domestic routes. Uzbekistan Airways flys to and from Tashkent linking Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Rome, Athens, Istanbul, Karachi, Delhi, Peking, New York, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Jeddah, Bahrain, Bangkok, Tel Aviv and Amritsar. Uzbekistan Airways is the first in Central Asia to open direct transoceanic service between Tashkent and New York.

Airmale....you may want to check the OFFICIAL Uzbekistan Airways website at http://www.airways.uz The website at .nl is only their Netherlands office website, and is not updated very often.

hey i flew HY a short while back, 767 from BHX to TAS and then RJ-85 to amritsar in india  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
on the return i flew 757 on both sectors!
this is a really cool airline, i saw the whole airbus fleet on the tarmac at HY, and also all the 757's, their RJ-85 is quite old, and its a little tacky on the inside, they do some international flights with them as well as domestic  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
i have 2 in flight mags of theirs and i think they will start canada routes shortly, however after septemeber 11th i dunno what they will do, ut they have the rights to start flights

tashkent airport is quite diferent to any over here, but i think they're proud of it  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I visited their webpage but it isnt opening, anyways Im pretty sure HY are out of Pakistan, they used to fly to Lahore and Karachi with the RJ85 Sad

Really? I imagine it was delivered circa 1995/6. Not old at all! How would I know? The company I work for translated some certification for the aircraft into Russian so that it could be awarded a license to fly in Uzbekistan.
