When I first saw the tail sticking up from behind a neighboring jetway, I thought I was looking at an MD-80. However, after I went out on the ramp, I found a brand-new TWA/AA hybrid 717. N2427A was operating TWA 278 MSY-STL.

A small point of confusion, the following photo shows an aircraft registered as N2427A with const/line numbers of 55093/5083 at LGB on a pre-delivery flight (not fully painted yet). However, Bill Harms' website shows the const/line numbers as 55094/5084 for N2427A:

Anyway, N2427A was in today, I took pictures of it (however I haven't figured out how to scan them in correctly so they can make it onto airliners.net).

Great Tom....I'm a big 717 fan.....dying to see the 717 in interim AA/TWA (and eventually full AA) colours!

Regards
Neil/Toronto

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

I'll try to upload them tonight, but I can't guarantee airliners.net taking them (I'm still trying to figure out compression, jpg, etc). If someone can do it for me, e-mail me an address, and I'll mail prints off.

PS: I will say, the 717 did look cool in TWA/AA colors.

That is the first 717 I have seen in the AA colors. I was in STL a couple of weeks ago, and the only ones I saw were still in the TWA colors.

Interesting, it seems so much shorter in AA colors.

Ok, I just have to say that it is really sad to see American's livery on the 717. Almost as sad as seeing NWA's livery on our fleet 15 years ago.
