My adopted home airport seems to be doing quite well with international expansion. TK does fly to IAH (no DFW vs. IAH on this thread, please). How about DFW?

Not a chance. They are doing poorly in IAH as far as fares goes go. They would do worse here.

The expansion comes off the Gulf carriers which have extensive India service. Thats what DFW feeds. TK doesnt have extensive India service.

That's what I was thinking, but given TK's willingness to go everywhere at no cost..

No plans for DFW.

Regarding IAH, its actually shaping up to be a good station. Recently it was announced in internal newsletter it had the strongest advanced premium bookings of US stations.

Agree. No Star feed would have TK dead on arrival as well.

I think the Texas-Middle East market is a little over saturated at the moment. It seems like the only room left is for EY at IAH.
Breakdown:
IAH: EK, TK, QR
DFW: EK, QR, EY

Slightly OT, who does the ground handling for TK in IAH?

Turkish has lower-hanging fruit in the Americas before DFW. My guess would be that SFO will be next on their priority list. I also am wondering when they will venture into DTW, which would be a great fit for an older A332 variant.

The San Francisco Bay Area is the largest U.S. market without TK service, and SFO is a major alliance/codeshare partner hub to boot - lots of connectivity, and more importantly many loyal Star Alliance FFers. Given that SFO is a much better place to connect than LAX or ORD, I think SFO would quickly become the preferred TK gateway to and from the Western U.S.

I didn't even think of DTW, but it could be a great niche market despite the lack of a partner FFer base/hub connectivity. TK's IST hub is perfectly situated to serve Detroit's Arab American communities (primarily of Iraqi, Jordanian, Lebanese, Palestinian, Syrian, and Yemeni descent), whereas the Persian Gulf carriers would require rather significant backtracking for such travelers. However, given how dangerous Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen are these days I doubt there are many American citizens/residents visiting those countries for any reason, whilst Jordan and Palestine are already served by the established RJ service. Maybe there wouldn't be much of an opportunity for TK after all?

I'm one of the biggest SFO homers around and I'd love to see a TK tail at the Intl. Terminal but is the PDEW to TurkeyPalestine large enough? Sure SFO is great for connections, but with LAX already having TK that takes a hit on the West Coast connection feed into SFO. I don't know how much feed SFO can generate for this flight from inbound domestic flights from the east.

Still the day it happens will be great news. SFO officials have been dragging their heels on new foreign airline startups compared to the other US major gateways recently.

..and it still remains to be seen if one of those ME3 carriers will be the odd one out when the dust settles.

Other then the LAX and ORD connection part, I'd agree I think SFO would have to be high on TK's radar. It could co-exist well with LAX like many other airlines do.

SFO will come, but it wont have much to do with feed or connections with United.

TK and UA don't play much as UA has its allegiance to LH and its A++ JV partners.

ATL is #1 on the radar for TK??? Really??? I would love it do not get me wrong but I thought that there were more cities that would see TK before or ever ATL. I know that there was discussion in the past of extending the IAD to ATL but it never happened.

According to who? I see SFO and MIA WAY before ATL is even thought of. Even DTW may see a TK bird before ATL.

Though I do not think it is a good idea: ATL has been mentioned as a future TK destination.

Turkish Airlines from IAH gets more passengers towards Iran, Israel, Africa, Middleast, South Asia, Turkey, and, Europe. We get a couple of PAX going to Far/ Southeast Asia.

25 Fastphilly : Just looked up some fares this spring for a IAH-DEL and TK is $300 more than QR. Any other airline choice with 1 stop connections are on average $200
26 iah59 : Everyday our business is full and Economy comfort lacks but, economy does strong, a lot of last minute customers. We get alot more customers going tow
27 LAXintl : TK's average IAH LF was 81% in 2013. Quite decent ramp up since having launched in April. Like I mentioned in earlier post, IAH has the strongest prem
28 iah59 : we get a lot of also last minute upgrade to business and comfort class as well.
29 Post contains images stlgph : yes. Hamdi Topçu has been very vocal about Atlanta. CNN-Turk interview on Feb. 27. the fares are amazing.
