UA e-mailed me saying that cockpit bars would be on all of their planes within 10 days. What are cockpit bars? Here is the e-mail.
As you get back to business this fall, we'd like to
give you some important travel updates that will help
smooth your journeys on United. Here's the latest on:
- Enhanced cockpit security
- New United carry-on baggage policy
- E-Ticket(SM) reservations
- How to get flight updates via PDA or cell phone
- Special offer: double miles worldwide!
- Award Travel Sale: make your miles go further
ENHANCED COCKPIT SECURITY
United will have security bars in place on its entire
operating fleet within 10 days.
UNITED'S NEW CARRY-ON BAGGAGE POLICY
As an added security measure, you are now limited to one
reasonably sized (45 linear inches) carry-on item, in
addition to a purse or briefcase, on all United flights.
This restriction applies regardless of your class of
service for domestic and international travel.
For a complete description of the most recent security
policies, go to
As always, you can use an E-Ticket when you travel with
United. However, you must have proper documentation to
show you have purchased your travel. Valid proof of
purchase includes:
- A printout of your E-Ticket receipt
- A printout of an e-mail confirming your purchase
- A copy of your United or travel agency itinerary
If you book your flight at united.com, you can print out
the confirmation page that appears after you've made your
purchase. Or, refer to the "My itineraries" section at
united.com, where you'll find a complete history of all
your online purchases.
Should you forget to bring documentation to the airport,
you can go to a United EasyCheck-in(SM) unit in the
airport lobby (where available) and print out your
receipt there. Or, just check in at a United ticket
counter in the airport lobby.
If you have a United E-Ticket but want to change your
travel plans and fly on a different airline, you will
need to obtain a paper ticket from United and present it
to the other carrier (Air Canada and Continental are
exceptions).
GET WIRELESS FLIGHT UPDATES
Now you can sign up for flight paging and get flight

They are putting a counter in the cockpit so the pilots can have a beer if they feel stressed due to recent changes in security practices. You see pilots used to be able to sneak kegs in (under their shirts) however with the metal detector being turn onto the 'high' function they are unable to do this anymore.

Don't listen to these two idiots. The cockpit bar is being installed on cockpit doors. It is a horizontal bar that is made of steel and is painted red.
