No. Test flights have 9XXX series flight numbers.

If you got your info from Flight Explorer (or other flight tracking site that uses ASD data, since you mentioned the ATC "72Q" identifier), it appears the flight had a problem (probably MX, and air interrupted back to DEN.

I just went in to UA's site, and sure enough, 1585 operates DEN-BUR, and it departed a little over 3 hours late due to aircraft servicing...
