Hi,

Just wondered whether you knew of any airlines that have a livery that is very similar to another airline. I noticed this whilst viewing photos of the following two airlines...

Do you know any other airlines with similar liveries to one another?

You cannot put in this ist those examples of Iberia-Aeroineas Argentinas-Austral-Viasa and Continental-Copa, because they are owned by the same group (in each of both cases). It is like putting American Airlines with American Eagle, or British Airways with Deutsche BA.

Sorry to say, but much of the above liveries which are called similar are actually quite different.

if you want to see a real similar one look at these two:

OK, I must admit, Sobelair is a 100% subsidiary of Sabena for charter flights only, but anyway...

Alot of the liveries mentioned have common ownership.

The Dinar MD-80 was short term leased from Crossair.

The colourful yellow LH 732 was an experimental scheme only applied to that aircraft many years before the similar current Condor scheme.

Copa is a partner of Continental.

Airtours & Premiair have common owners.

AVENSA used to be a subsidiary of PA.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Not surprisingly in a world where everly dot, logo or name is legally protected, YY717.
No one would even dare to have a livery that comes anywhere close to that of a competitor uless they are sure it's ok.

There are numerous livery 'trends' that airlines copy from one another. The most common is the all-white fuselage.....with some schemes it looks good, with others, it looks bad/boring.

Another livery trend is the white top/blue bottom fuselage of BA/UA/Canadian/Aviateca/Aloha...and numerous other carriers.

Another 'trend' was the 'slash' used by SAS, Finnair, JAT, PIA briefly in the late 80s/early 90s......
