Midwest Express Included In Phase II Opening Of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, October 18, 2001 – Midwest Express Airlines’ nonstop service from both Milwaukee and Kansas City to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport has been included in the Phase II reopening of that airport beginning October 26.
Midwest Express will utilize eight of its allotted slots to serve Milwaukee with four daily roundtrip flights, and the other four slots to serve Kansas City with two daily roundtrips.

"We’re very pleased that we’ve been included. Washington National operations are significant to our businesses travelers and account for about 10% of our overall operation," remarked Timothy E. Hoeksema, chairman and chief executive officer of the Milwaukee-based airline.

"The Wisconsin delegation, and the Missouri and Kansas delegations – particularly Wisconsin Governor Scott McCallum, U.S. Representative Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), U.S. Representative Tom Barrett (D-WI) and U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) – were instrumental in making this happen. We thank them for their tremendous support."
Midwest Express said it is confident it can implement the enhanced security measures necessary to serve Washington National prior to the reopening.
