Hi there,
I guess this should kinda be posted in the photography forum, but i know that the guys over there don't particularly like threads like this...
I have been looking through the database all evening at photos, and the ones that really make me wanna just jump on a plane are night time ramp shoots, normally in the middle east. For some reason, i just love them. Maybe it is the adventurous nature of asia, but they really do. I don't have time now but i will post some examples tomorrow (hopefully).
So what special photos really make you want to go out and get on that plane??
Please post your pictures using the 'photoid:00000' function!!!

I spent a warm beautiful night watching a Full Moon and departures off of Boston's Rwy22R Sept 2, 2001.....Obviously not knowing what was to happen to the world just 9 days later...This photo I took that night, was to me what really is the beauty of commercial flight. We (Aviation World) can get that back. Give it a little time. Such a GREAT concept as this WILL rise again!!!

This isn't exactly captured in a picture, but more as a memory. In July, I flew an AA MD-80 from BOS to ORD. This flight was on July 3 (note the closeness to the fourth of July). First of all, coming into ORD from that direction takes your approach path over Lake Michigan... and there was a full moon out. So I could see the moonshine and the reflection on the lake, and it looked so so awesome, with the Chicago skyline in the background. This was late evening, around 9:30pm local. After we passed downtown, we went over a lot of residential Chicago, and there were numerous fireworks displays going on... very interesting and awesome to watch these displays from above! These kind of things are what make me want to forget $$ and hop on a plane right now. That's also why I'm in school to become a professional pilot!

For me it's watching jets flying overhead leaving long contrails behind them that go for miles and miles. The 747 contrails look awesome on a very humid day. If i see one i usually follow it with my eyes until it is out of sight.
