We just got back last night (Sunday) from LAX. We flew out on a 767 and a return trip on a 757. The 767 only had 80 to 90 passengers at most on the flight, which was on Thursday afternoon. The return flight on the 757 had only about 75 people. This is very sad, yet in a way, I don't feel sorry for the airlines also. The airlines continue to charge extremely outrageous fares for last minute travel. I had a free ticket so it didn't matter, but I pulled up what a fare would be on this same trip and if I purchased it last Monday it was about $1500.00 or so, round-trip. That is ridiculous! Why don't the airlines "REALLY" lower fares right now to stimulate some traffic? So many of the things all the airlines are doing right now to me, is just "window dressing"........

The airline sales really are not all they're cracked up to be. Yeah there are some deals out there, but there are the usual gaggle of restrictions.
A quick glance at the fare-tracker box I have set up on my.yahoo shows one could fly from Orlando to San Diego for $114, but San Diego to San Francisco is $169, to Oakland is $118, and to San Jose is $78.
Any guesses on which route is monopolized by United?
