Surprise! FedEx A-300 In Roc!

I saw one a few weeks parked at the "Closed down" FedEx cargo building, well it looks like its open again. After spotting yesterday and 22/4 i drove by and there was a A-300 loading up, i couldnt believe my eyes, and at ROC, thats the only schedual Wide-Body into ROC, cant wait to here herfly over my house.

Yes, since FedEx got the contract to fly USPS mail, they've used larger aircraft in some smaller markets. Are you sure this was an A300 rather than an A310?

Yes, Eric, there is a regularly scheduled widebody into ROC for the first time since 1973! But it's an A310, not an A300. FedEx will probably make substitutions from time to time as airlines do; so you might have actually seen an A300. But the A310 is the regularly scheduled aircraft. It replaced two daily 722's to MEM.

The aircraft started flying into ROC in late August, shortly before the airshow. I saw some of them when I was home in September...what a beautiful sight!

Yes it was a beautiful sight, i thought it was a 310 too but i looked at her closely and there were no winglets on the wingtips so i assume it was a 300.

Older 310's often don't have winglets, Eric. I looked FedEx A310's up in the database and the ones I saw did not have winglets:

I sure hope to see an A300 at the Scottsville Road FedEx ramp someday though. Please keep us posted!

Any Burlington or Emery DC-8-71's lately? I got to look at an Emery 71 up close when I was home in March, parked for the weekend. Maybe we'll see American Int'l/ Kalitta L-1011's again at Christmas.
