Today, a Cameroon Airlines 747-400 is parked at the executive terminal at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. I believe that is the exclusive aircraft for the President of Cameroon, but I'm not sure what it's doing in Phoenix. If I find out anything I'll keep you posted.

Gotta love it...Cameroon has a real GDP per person of $1,700 and their tin-horn leader runs around in a 747!

Thanks. I noticed the SUD but I failed to look if it had winglets, so I just assumed it was a 744. Great website, by the way!  Smile

What the hell does the President of a dirt-poor country like Cameroun need a personal 743 for ?????

Jeez......even Air Force One is only a 742 (granted, the US has two).

Can you say CORRUPTION and SCREWED UP PRIORITIES?

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

I beleive the Aussie prime minister still gets around in a 707, however some 737BBJ's are on their way. Now thats priorities to hold on to that a/c for so long.

Hell yes !! they have a 400. And it is not for the president as some think here.

Cameroon Airlines is doing good. I am happy they have a fleet of Boeing plane.

It has nothing to do with corruption.

Peut etre certains sont jaloux ici

Cool! I have never seen that plane let alone I never knew that they had one. Maybe on one of the World Series games, he will be there.

Airafrique,

No corruption in Cameroon or Camair (Cameroon Airlines)?

Then the country and the company have radically changed since I left the country 8 years ago!

BTW, President Paul Biha was, and maybe is still flying a B727.

It's not jealousy, just realism...

If an airline decides to buy a B747-400 it is because that airline needs it.

The fact of having the plane in phoenix has nothing to do with corruption.

Jmc1975 did you take a picture of the plane ?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

yo air afrique, it seems like you're pretty serious.
so, do you mean to say that besides tha airplane that got screwed up in paris on 9 nov 2000 (tj-cab), and besides tha new 767 they bought(tj-cac), theres a new 747 besides that? i thought camair only had one long-haul aircraft?

thank goodness for TCAS !

The corruption comment was aimed at the Cameroun govt for buying a 743 for the President's personal use. not related to Cameroon Airlines.

hi
the Camair station manager assistant at CDG had told me 1 month after the "mont cameroon" crash that the 767 was a stand by plane (at 1st the 767 was a Citybird leased). They've always had in mind to buy another 747, but were waiting for the cash....I'm surprised it happened so quickly though
for your information the camair flight is more than full -at least with a 767 or a 742-combi...but I don't know if they can sell the 380 seats of a 743

Correct...Cameroun AL has bought a used 743 (ex-SQ), not a new 744.
