Was There An MD95, Or Are They All 717's?

Did MD ever build any jets with the MD-95 designation, or were they all built under Boeing's 717 model number?

Also, what are the spotting features between an MD80/MD90 and a 717?

I believe the MD-95 was converted to the 717 after Boeing bought McDonnell-Douglas.

Hey,
MCdonnel douglas intended to build the MD-95 as the MD-95, but then Boeing bought them out, and they renamed it the 717.

The 717 looks like a short MD-80 with larger engines. I don't think the BR715s are as large as the MD-90's V2500s though.

It's about the same length as a DC-9-30.

The first 717-200 flew SEP 02, 1998. Construction was begun as the MD-95 but it was certified as the 717.

Short answer, no MD-95s were ever built.

The 717s closest Mcdonell-Douglas relative would probably be the MD-87 in the looks department.

The 717 (MD-95) sits between the DC-9-30 and DC-9-40 in size. The MD-87 is closer to the size of the DC-9-50, and would probably be about the size of a 717-300 in the event Boeing actually decides to build it.
