Today marks (among other things) the return of Thai Airways Boeing 747-400 to Auckland.

TG992 is scheduled to touch down 6 minutes late at 1336, and is operated today by HS-TGO, the 'Royal Barge' aircraft named 'Bowonrangsi'!

At least they can park it anywhere. As opposed to the 773 which can only take 1,2 and 5 if my memory serves me correctly.

It's now touched down at 13.48 and is scheduled to take off at 14.50. Fully loaded as usual.. AKL is a real success story for TG!

I went to the airport today and actually saw HS-TGO it really is a beautiful scheme. It followed SQ's 744 9V-SMJ along the taxiway. I decided the pulic lookout wasn't close enough so I went for a little drive down next to the jet base awesome to see 2 744's in a row.
It was nearly 1 hour late departing took off around 1550. I didn't no that it was going to be TGO, so I was lucky bugger about the weather though!

Amazing that until OCT 99' TG only had 3 weekly flights to AKL on 744's then 5 then daily 773's from DEC 2000. Now daily 744's!

Wonder if there's any plans for TG to increase flights to AKL?

Duff the 773 and 744 can park on all gate except 3, 4 and 9. Today it was on 7 TG that is.

Thanks TG992, how many were on it when it came into AKL. I always think 1hr 20min is not long enough to turn a 747 around in although several QF 747's are sheduled for that at the moment its just QF25 arriving from BNE at 1800 departing to LAX 1915.
An extra 10mins would be good I reakon.

Thanks Scott. What I meant was I have never seen TG 773's parked anywhere but gates 1,2 and 5. I am going back to the days when I used to work at NZAA.

By the way. Has 23R/05L opened up yet?
Is the "hub" still going strong?

I am a long way from home so I need to be kept in the loop.

No 23R/5L has not opened up yet.
The hub I think is going strong real busy at certain times of the day!

Scott.

Slightly off subject, but spotters may be interested in Polynesian Airlines B737NG's (800 with swoopy winglets) operating in NZ on behalf of QF (wet leased of course).
Aircraft are 5W-SAO, SAM.
This is the first B73NG I have certified in NZ with winglets. Looks good.
