I would bet the last schedule you are looking at is after the Strike. Eastern rebuilt service with replacement workers and never did get back to the full schedule. My guess is that they restarted to the airports in which they had the best loads and yields before the strike and never got back to JFK before the final shutdown.

I fondly remember my many flights out of Miami to JFK on their DC8-61s/63s. I was also on board the inaugural L1011 flight out of Miami to JFK back in 1972. Eastern back then really knew how to treat their customers with great service.
