Did Roots air get their 727's from Royal? Where are they now? where are the L-1011's that Royal had? Also does anyone know anything about this Cargo Company? ICC? where is it based and whats the main website? And has anyone seen any DC-8 lately at YYZ? Last one I saw was a united DC-8 about 4-5 years ago.

The RootsAir 727, was leased from Kelowna. Was originally owned by the First Braniff Airways INT. I was in the cockpit of this aircraft and the Braniff sticker or metal plate was still on the cieling. Really nice Aircraft, but a little too old for my liking, it was leased for the fact we needed something for a spare, but that was not the case on the first day, our Second A-320 was late on delivery, and that had to be used, but in the entire flying of roots this plane was always out flying around. I cannot answer the rest of your questions.

About that DC-8.
Sorry I can't be really specific..... I was in my backyard one evening in July, casually looking at aircraft approaching on 6R, to my surprise a DC-8 flew by. I did not have my binoculars so i couldn't make out the airline (but it wasn't anything like united, or air canada) or any regnumbers but for sure it was a dc-8.

When I was spotting at YYZ past midnight one day in the last week of august, I saw the Roots Air 727 land, I think. So evidently being used for something. Freighter, I guess? Anyway, as for DC-8's, when I was sitting in Terminal 3 early in the mornign of June 23rd, waiting for my C3/CJ flight to YHZ, I looked out the window and was surprised to see an Emory DC-8! It was the first DC-8 i'd ever seen SINCE I became an aviation fan (wouldn't have recognized it when I was younger), and it was quite a nice surprise. It looked really good. From far away head on, I thought it was an A-340!

The Roots Air 727 did come from Kelowna as was an ex-Greyhound Air Aircraft.
It will remain with Skyservice till about April. We will fly the 727 to FLL this winter. We used it in the summer for charter flights we did for Conquest to Halifax and St. John's I think. We also used it for Travel agent fam flights and other flights. We try to use the a/c as much as we can.
