I hate them. They are so noisy especially the L-1011 and the DC-10.

I kind of like the MD-11. It is like the DC-10 which I love, but modernized (glass cockpit, etc). I think of it as a DC-10 with a makeover.

Because there's one, two, three holes in those babies and their cockpits are tight!

Sad, I post this same answer any time someone brings up the question. I need to get some new lines...

I hate it because it was the demise of Mcdonnell Douglas.

Its the most different you're gonna get from all the cookie cutter twinjets these days aside from the 747.

Fly15, I third it! Being different is okay.

With all the twins it's getting boring to look at most planes these days just for their livery.  Insane

1. It's pretty unique these days.
2. It looks gooood!
3. It grows on ya'...previously I really didn't like them much, but there's something there, just can't put my finger on it.

The DC-10 and the L-1011 are relatively noisy.
The MD-11 is not!!!
I like the MD-11 because it's the successor of the
above mentioned aircraft (guess it!!!).Such aircrafts
made the happy days of several airlines, and at the
time the were launched, they were very interesting!!!
They were efficient for both medium and long haul
flights.

It's a pity that they're withdrawn from fleets.
It's a pity that the MD-11 is no longer produced.

hi
'cause it looks so great when landing and taking off!!!
the 3rd engine gives it a distinction when compared to the "plain vanilla" 2 engine ships

The MD-11 with three 62,000lb thrust P&W 4462s or GE CF6s has better takeoff performance over the CFM56-5C powered A340-200/300.

Nice plane becouse of the 3 engines, the huge sweeped angle of the wings, and the winglets offcourse. It's a hell of a machine!

because the production was brutally ended by Boeing. And since it is still looking like a plane compared to all modern windtunnel copies...

It is the best looking plane around, much nicer than all those boring twin jets. Also I think it was harsh the way Boeing curtailed its production so soon after taking over MDC.

It's like a tricked-out DC-10. It's a bloody shame there wasn't more demand for them when the line came out, otherwise I'm sure we would be seeing more of them today.

I agree, this a/c has grown on me too. Before, I didn't care for it much, and now I'm increasingly into it. I still haven't ever flown on one, and would really like to. Do you know of any airlines that will be keeping their MD-11s around for at least a few more years? I know of Finnair, but that's it.

Regards.

It would have been nice for MD in the beginning of the MD-11 program to design the aircraft with FBW to compete with the 777 and A330/A340.
