What Cities Will The UPS Md-11 Be Visiting?

As some of us know, UPS has received their first Md-11 freighter, and is apparently touring it around the country to certain airports. Does anyone know which airports are set to receive the Md-11, both during the tour and in the future, when more of them enter the UPS fleet? Thanks for any info any of you might have.

Regards,
Aaron G.

Maybe ANC as this is a huge base for FedEx and their ramps are side by side.

PDX looks like a temporary stop for a day or two.

If you guys are nice...and remember to remind me....I'll get you the December schedules when they come out. Not sure when that will be....

Travlr...I promise you there won't be one coming to SAN in the near future, hehe....maybe ONT. If I'm lucky, I'll get to spend three hours in SAN during a few swings through during the week before X-mas. Wish I had some layovers. Sorry....it will be in a little 727-100QF. Remember, it all pays the same at UPS.....

It's been a long time since I've seen a UPS 727 at SAN... Wish someone would take a photo of one while it's there.

Back to UPS MD-11s: Are the new MD-11s meant to replace or augment the 747 fleet?

Augment....for quite a while anyways. There should be a 727 in SAN between 1730 and 1945 during the week before X-mas. If I get the trip and the gateway peeps are friendly (not always the case), I might be able to arrange a short tour/photo op.

De727ups: Thanks for the information. In addition to my inherent question about SAN, I was also wondering whether OAK would receive it anytime in the future as well? I'm travelling up there in the near future, and I was hoping that there's an off-chance that I could get lucky seeing it Smile. Thanks!

I'll be hoping to see the MD-11 at PHL, UPS has a fairly decent sized operation there...any chance of that????

I wouldn't be surprised if PHL, DSM, RFD, and ONT saw the MD-11 eventually during the xmas rush.

I think we are only receiving three MD-11's this year. It looks like one will be doing ANC turns and another BFI turns, both from SDF. Not sure about the other one. I'll try to remember to check the December skeds when they come out. Doubt if they will be running around the country not as scheduled. The big planes, 747's and MD-11's, tend to go where they are supposed to, when they are supposed to, unless they are broke. It's the little guys (me) that get sent all over the country on reskeds because they broke another Airbus in Dallas.

Don,

Have the Airbus planes proven unreliable? Your company still has a lot of them coming.

I was only joking about the Airbus thing. I suppose they are as reliable as anything else. We are defering half of our Airbus deliveries for next year, though.

The MD11 is supposed to do some PHL to Cologne flying next year...not sure exactly when.

The MD1's are going to Anchorage and to Seoul, and Hong Kong. There will also be flights out of PHL and EWR to Koeln Bonn.

De727ups, I don't know what you've heard or seen about the a306 but the dispatch rate from what I have seen isn't very good. I think your joke maybe more fact  Smile
