There's a photo in the database of a Spirit MD-82 without markings photographed in San Diego, not a regular Spirit destination. Can someone reveal whether this aircraft now has a private owner? Why was it in San Diego? Thanks in advance for any info.

Per Bill Harms' website, this ship was ferried to IWA on Sept. 27th. Also listed as an ex-Reno Air aircraft. Then it said "to JPATS"...whatever that means. Regards.

Yeah,

There was a Spirit MD80 here in DAB this weekend. I don't know what it was doing here.

Interesting! I imagine they'll change the livery sooner or later since Spirit probably doesn't want to be associated with "Conair." Thanks for the info.

JPATS are the people that carry prisoners from one holding facility to another. They have a "hub" at OKC on the west side of the field. They also operate at least 1 727-100, a DC-9, etc. We see one of them at MSY every couple of weeks.

JPATS used WinAir when they were around also.

Spirit does alot of charters as well, so it's not surprising to see them in places besides their usual destinations.
