you should be able to see it everywhere. I had to go out in the country though as I live right down town. its alot easier to see with no lights around you. Look for the green and red and some blue.

I'm from Ottawa (YOW) and I saw them,

I've never seen such an array of colors and the size of them was enormous, made me think of numerous Star Trek episodes that begin with:

- Captain, I'm detecting a subspace disturbance 500 000 kilometres off the starboard side.
- On screen Mr. (whatever)

North side of Mpls/St. Paul -- directly overhead about 8:45 local time. Blood red, with white light radiating out from behind the center.

Are there any comets supposed to strike us anytime soon?

I was flying my trip from BOS to IND tonight and saw them. I requested a deviation from ATC to give the 6 pax in the a back of our EMB145 a view. It was a once in a lifetime sight. My first time seeing them that bright and vivid in 13 years of flying. I'll never forget it.

One thing is bugging me though. We got to IND 20 minutes early plus went out of our way to give the pax a view. Not one of the six even said a "Thank you" or even gave a nod to our flight attendent, let alone to us.
Makes me wonder why we bother sometimes.

Very cool thing to see. Sorry to those of you who would have loved it that you had to see it from the ground and so much less vivid.
