It's been returned to SIA.

Ready to be in SIA's fleet again.

Both 744s are still in AN colors (ANA is Olympic 2000 scheme).

SQ will return planes to SQ colors and refurbish planes to latest SQ standard which probably means sleepers in P&J.

***VH-ANA***

For the Sydney guys, last chance to get some pics before VH-ANA is gone for good.

Poor AN - Airline of the Sydney 2000 Olympics last year and this year serving bottled water on half filled domestic flights.

Cheers and tears.

Nah NO sleepers for both planes.SIA Won't and SHouldn't be so stupid re-configuring one of the oldest planes (Though not really old actually, just in their fleet) to the new skysuites.

Only normal 16Ps, and for 9V-SMD, 53 Js!Makes it 4 more than normal Js!

I thought normally it was 58J so how could it be 4 more than usual? I thought it would be less...

9V-SMD will be fitted with the sleeper seats. I have the new timetable and below the Boeing 747-400 words it says: SMD Slumberettes.

9V-SVA  Big thumbs up

9V-SVA,
Slumberettes is going to be fitted on 9V-SMD, as i have the seating plan actually of both 9V-SMB and 9V-SMD.But actually that doesn't mean they are going to install the Skysuites or the new Raffles on both planes. They are going to be fitted with P16, that means not the skysuites.

And a correction is that SMD will be fitted with 53Js, while SMA-SMH excluding D with 48Js, that means 5 more.

Just got back from the airport. Saw the Ansett 744 parked at Terminal One. Got a really pixellated picture which hardly shows anything, but I'll try and see what I can do about it and post it here if possible.

If anyone's interested, the one I saw didn't have the Sydney 2000 livery. I wasn't at T1's viewing mall but at this isolated place near Changi Prison when I saw it. The plane was flanked by the JAL Disney Sea and a Turkish A340. If anyone's interested I think you guys can go to T1's viewing mall near the Swensens' ice cream parlour where you might just be able to see it.

Carmy... any idea why was it at the gate? I would have thought it would be in SASCO or SIA hangar instead...

Thanks

Hey Alvin, I really don't know why it's at the gate, but when I passed by the hangars the other day, it seemed pretty full and there were quite a number of planes undergoing servicing and repainting and stuff. But then again your guess is as good as mine. Will try ask about it though.

Anyway, I've got a really pixellated picture of the Ansett here. Just in case you guys can't see anything, it's the one in the centre. I'm sorry for the poor quality. Didn't have a proper camera and the one I'd brought along was DocPepz's digital camera which didn't have zoom. Didn't help that it was really cloudy then.

Thanks Carmy for posting the picture. Passed the hangar 2 days ago and noticed it was quite full.. maybe that's why the Ansett plane hasn't gone in. By the way there's one Thai B777-2D7 in SIA's B777 hangar.

Anyone seen VH-ANB? It has also arrived in Singapore...

Thanks again.

Is VH-ANA the one with the Sydney 2000 livery? That sure is one plane we all can't afford to miss!

Well I don't no how long it would have been at the normal gate for but it would have probably been to let the crew off and then would have been towed away, this is what Virgins new 744's did when they came to Auckland for maintanence then they were towed away a short time later!

Regards.  Smile

VH-ANB's been towed to SIAEC hangar. VH-ANA is parking at Bay 103.

Where's Bay 103? Can we see it from any of the viewing galleries? I'm sorry but I simply haven't got a clue where all these places are.  Confused

Bay 103 is the washing bay, cant be seen from the viewing gallery. It's just after South Cross, you know if you're driving from ECP, you will see a signboard saying CAAS (or issit CIAS) - its after the 2 overhead bridges. Turn left after the overhead bridges and there is a car park. Go to the end of the car park, turn left again and there is a dirt track heading towards T3. There you can see the Ansett, about 15 metres away from you.

Another777fan is right... you are just seperated from the plane by a fence and a road... very very close! Just beside Southcross. Southcross is the overhead bridge over ECp where some planes cross over.. making drivers staring up... the winglet of the B744 is over the road for sure!
