Sure the 717 (MD95) was a sucess but after McDonnell Douglas became a part of Boeing did Boeing make any money? Only a couple of MD11s and MD90s were made so I was wondering about this.

any replies are appreciated

What about the military side of McDonnell Douglas? I am pretty sure that Boeing is making a tonne and a half of money off of old MD military projects like the C-17 and the F/A-18 just to name a couple.

Question, did Boeing have a military division before they acquired MD? I know they made search and rescue helicopters and such, what else did they manufacture?

At that period in time. McDonnell Douglas was in a heep of trouble and wouldn't have lasted much longer (in terms of civil aviation) they would have gone all military like Lockheed is now. They just couldn't compete with Boeing and Airbus.

So Boeing bought them while they were weak mainly to take there military technology, but also to eliminate one of there competitors.

I sure miss McDonnell Douglas.....  Sad

Regards.
