I'll be sitting around BDL for about 4 hours on the 19th.... any good views in the terminal? I know theres not a huge amount of variety, but being from the west coast I'll at least get to seem some diffrent regionals.

As far as I remember you'll be able to do quite some good spotting there. They have huge windows in the concourse where you can see all the airplanes at the gates.
Of course it's not very big but I guess you'll see some birds there.

The best spot in the terminal is the walkway between terminals, right outside the in-airport hotel. You'll get a good view of both terminals plus runway action. You won't see the new terminal being constructed.
It's not terribly busy, but there can be some good variety.

Definitely, hit the museum. Good selection of old warbirds up there.
Depending which terminal you are in, you can get a decent view. From terminal 2, you can look out across to T1, the taxiways, and a few of the runways (been a while, so I forgot which one).
From the left side of T2, you can look out at the other set of runways, if I remember correctly.
Not much in the way of shopping there, so just sit down, and enjoy watching the birds go by.
Might get lucky, the CT ANG has been doing lots of flights recently with their A-10s. Lil old, but still nice to see them. I've seen them 2 times in the last 3 weeks or so, in sporadic spotting that I do from my college (I go to Central CT State U, which is right underneath one of the approaches, but yet again, I am unsure as to which ones)
Also, depending on your approach in, you should be able to see the demolition of Renschlar Field in East Hartford, what used to be the home airfield of P&W, which you being an aviation nut like the rest of us, should be a nice sight. But they are tearing out the field there and putting in a football stadium...

Yeah, the walkway in betwen terminals is the best area. The airport itself is pretty sparce with amenities, although I think it is neat that there is a hotel inside it. I don't know what regionals you might see. Delta Express and Metrojet if they are still around by then.
So 9 of the 10 largest US carriers have presence at BDL (all but Alaska), plus Midwest Express and Air Canada regional carriers. Midway served BDL up to the end, so who knows if that will return. Also, like many other regional airports, the "larger" birds (757, 763 for BDL) overnight and leave in the morning.

If you are there on a weekend you will see Midwest Express sub Skyway with their Dorniers into MKE. As for American Eagle ERJ 135's not sure if they have started yet or not. Delta brings in 2 767's, both which overnight in Terminal B. With tight security, I dont know if you will be able to get into terminal B since you are I am asuming flying with America West. The gate America west uses for the Phoenix flight is terrible. It is in the International Arrivals building and you will hate BDL once you walk off the plane, but as soon as you leave that area you should have a decent time viewing planes. There is a few resteraunts to go to, the Sharaton Hotel resteraunt is actually quite good. As most aiports are busy around 4-6PM, thats when you will see the majority of action, unless you are around in the early morning or late evening hours. Take a trip to the top of the Parking garage and tell all of us out of staters how the construction of the new concourse and terminal is coming.
