SAS have grounded 43 MD-80, due to a rutinecheck on tuesday on a MD-80 in Norway, they found a crack on a cylinder on one of the maingears. This effected 150 departures only today (Friday 9th) + 10 000 passangers who were stranded.
SAS is now working together with Boeing to find out what caused this.

Sudden.

When in doubt, flat out!

Wow, a crack in the cylinder. That thing must have been stressed or had a hard landing. That's ashame for the SAS MD-80s with the Linate accident and now this.

Yes you are right.
I do feel sorry for the airline to be honest.

I'm sure it won't last long. The MD-80 is one of the most proven aircraft in the world - a real workhorse.

They will be grounded saturday aswell it is said.

The remaining 20 md-80 will operate as normal, as they were chacked recently.
