engines being a major one
length of flight
how near the plane is to MGTOW etc

I have no proof about this, but I believe that the the A330 has more range but the 777 has a lower seat-cost.

In my opinion, the seats on the Airbus are cheaper. I've ridden in all three planes and the 777 seats feel like better quality. Plus they're made in Japan, which is a very expensive place to make seats. The Airbus seats are made in China. They look good but the quality is awful. So I think it's safe to say that Airbus has lower seat costs.

The quality of the seats has nothing to do with the aircraft. Airlines choose the type of seats they wish to use in their aircraft. The same companies make these chairs for both Airbus and Boeing.

Sure, the 777 has more range than the A330. That's because they were designed for different missions. Why should an airline buy the 777, if they don't need that range?

To answer your original question, it does indeed depend on any number of factors, the major ones being:

- stage length
- aircraft configuration (seating)
- aircraft MTOW
- engine type (A330 & 777)

Therefore, one definitive answer is not going to be found, no matter how biased one happens to be.

Before 9/11, leases and values would be:
A330-300 Aircraft Lease: $663-787K per month, or $75 (2nd hand) to 97 million to buy.
777-200ER is: $815 - 860K and 102.5 - 118 million respectively...

Use the leases and assume a monthly utilitisation rate, that would give you a cost/hour for the jets.. then divide the number by the seats in the plane, and that would give you a per seat hour cost for the aircraft.

You must then work out the crew cost, Maintenance, and Insurance costs per hour... after all that, add the fuel ! Don't believe what the manufacturers say...
