I flew Swissair many times in the 1970's (as a child), 1980's, and through the 1990's from JFK to GVA and ZRH on their 747-100's, 747-300's, and MD-11's. I was never on one of their A330's. I also flew their MD80's, A320's, and A321's throughout Europe. Swissair is and always was a great airline with a solid product and winning service. I hope they pull out of this mess and restore their place among the world's great airlines. Sabena, by contrast, had to be one of the worst European airlines I had ever flown on. Even though they amassed such a modern fleet (A340, A330, A320, A319) I flew them twice from JFK to Brussels and back and the "Such a Bad Experience, Never Again" moniker always rang true. Bad airline. Go away!

I never flew SR, and I regret it - but my one and only flight on SN was so bad I needed three years of psychological counselling to forget that traumatic experience - just kidding, but it was REALLY bad, even worse than Iberia...

While attending boarding school near Salzburg, my parents were living in JED as expats. This was from 1979 to 1984. I'd always fly SR from SZG to JED via ZRH during Christmas and for summer vacation. Back then the quality of their inflight service was unsurpassed and I'd always look forward to flying with them. Then last year I flew on them again from JFK to ZRH and from ZRH to LAX. While they were good, they were nowhere near as good as they were like back in the early eighties. It almost seemed like a different airline and I stepped off those flights feeling somewhat disappointed. Now SR's future is in doubt and all that may be left are the memories of my past flights on such a venerable carrier.

Flew once on Sabena, the food was lousy but the service wasn't as bad as I've heard from others.
