ANA has announced it will slash 8% of its workforce in 2002. Meanwhile, it will suspends 3 Asia routes, includes Osaka-Bangkok, Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok-Mumbai.

Also, it's the 2nd time that ANA dumps KUL again.

Yeah sad to hear this! But they said it's only up till March 30, 2002. So I have no idea whether they will continue to serve Kuala Lumpur in April 2002 again! See my previous post http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/649880/. hopefully they will resume their services in April. There are some opinions whihc I had voiced out in the post as well!

Airmale, KIX-BKK is now a daily serivce... dropping it though, is in line with what ANA stated a while ago: They think business travelers are mainly flying from NRT, and leisure pax mainly from KIX, so the yield out of KIX has been lower for them.

ANA did say the NRT-BKK portion of (what was) NRT-Mumbai, NRT-KUL will continue. If you have seen the size of the Japanese community in BKK, it's also difficult to think they'll drop NRT-BKK  Smile

ANA wants to cut 30 billion yen in costs before the financial year is over (March 30). They'd done pretty well last year, but increased security incurred an extra cost of about 10 billion. Also, they'd predicted that int'l pax will drop by 88% september-march, but so far it's been even less.

KUL/MUM are the extension from NRT-BKK. NRT-BKK stays, BKK-KUL/MUM goes.
