JAL seems like haven't decide whether they're joining an alliance or not.

JAL has close relationships with Air France as well, a Skyteam member.

for the near future, i would assume that JAL wants to sort things out with its JAS merger before deciding on an alliance.

If JAL joins an alliance, don't neccesarily think that they'll join OneWorld. Wings and Skyteam are also possibilities, Star is too big as is, and OneWorld is getting there.

come on JAL do the right thing and join one world. star is out of the question, skyteam isnt developed enough yet and wings hasnt really got of the ground yet.

One world contains airlines with prestige, naturally oneworld should contain an excellet airline like JAL.

It is amazing what can be accomplised when nobody takes the credit

Oneworld contains American and BA, I would not call that prestige. Skyteam that's a lot better with Korean and Delta. Delta is America's best. Yes, even when looking at all terrible airlines, one is the best of all bad ones!

Come on!!!

Why would JAL tie into Star *???
That is the most rediculous thing ever. Look at star, its pathetic. Count the number of airlines it needs to cover Europe??!?!? No, look closer, How many Airlines does it need to Cover AUSTRIA????? Austrian, Lauda, and Tyrolean?????? Why on earth would any alliance of any size need 3 airlines in one poxy little country which has a small land mass and a small population. Id understand if it was Russia we were talking about! But its not. Look at it. Two within a few hundred miles in Asia, Thai and Singapore!!!
Oneworld has
1 in the US - AA
4 in Europe, BA, Aer Lingus, Iberia, Finnair.
2 in Asia Pacific, Cathay and Qantas.
1 in South america, Lan Chile
and a few others which are affiliates of BA, such as Comair in South africa, although not officially a member, is through BA's Franchising.

JAL wasnt at the time given Govt. Approval to join OneWorld, but i can see it happening once it gets its house sorted.

And whoever said Skytem has Prestige should be shot:

Korean, the most accident prone airline in the world. Air France, the worst in terms of Passenger service. Alitalia, Always late in takeoff always late in arrival!!!!
And Wings, it wont happen, BA/KLM have a future as european partners, and are likely to become part of a Major Alliance, as will other airlines such as Alitalia and Air France.

I rest my case.

Oneworld will soon consist of the following airlines:

American Airlines, Lan Chile, British Airways, Swissair/Crossair, Iberia, Finnair, Aer Lingus, South African Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines and Qantas.

I think the alliance will be complete after the expansion has finished. The 3 new Airlines, SR/LX, SA and JL, will be a major contribution to the alliance and will enhance cooperations between the current members. Then Oneworld will clearly be earth's number one airline alliance.

gibberish

Aamd11, should I be shot, because i think Skyteam is the better alliance of the 2 (One world and Skyteam)?
Where are you from?
Besides, with 4 aircraft lost in only 2 years I dont think American is any better then Korean. Did you actually fly with all these airlines?
But... I dont think that JAL should join Skyteam or Oneworld as they both already have a major Asian partner. Wings on the other hand, could definitely use an Asian partner once it gets of ground.

JAL is one of the world's best airlines!
So, I think that they will join what's for my personal opinion the best coach air group, and that is defenitly Skyteam!

Aamd11, Austrian, Tyrolean, and Lauda Air are one airline. The Austrian Airlines Group, and they all, effective this winter, use the same airline code (OS unless it is a charter flight, were Tyrolean/Lauda use thier own codes). Austrian is mainline, Tyrolean is regional, and Lauda Air is vacation.

Guys-
This isn't an Alliance A vs. Alliance B thread.

Chances are JAL will join the alliance where most of it's partners are, and that just happens to be Oneworld, okay??

I am absolutely sick of the battles of which alliance A is better than alliance B. This thread asked a specific question, and that was about JAL.
