I heard recently that Delta will phase out the 737-300G fleet based out of ATL. These are the leased aircraft acquired second-hand from Germania, WestPac, etc., to fill in extra capacity out of ATL. I hear they haven't been pleased with the aircraft's performance, incidentally.
Have any of the 733Gs begun to leave the fleet yet? And if not, when will they go, if they're still slated to leave?

Thery are still flying, but DAL has stated that they want to get rid of them. Small categories are more expensive to man and operate. The aircraft have not been reliable for DAL and they have been a disappointment. DAL mans 737-300G as a category separate from the -200,-300,-800,s.

The -300Gs were acquired before knowing the true status of their condition. They are all nightmares to work with and required extensive reconditioning before being introduced into the fleet years back. I've never flown in one, but if I had to guess the door layouts may be slightyly different requiring flight attendents to be trained for different layouts.
