Strange, I thought they were going to start codesharing dec 1st. But I can not find any code shared flights in the reservation system.

Does anyone know when the codesharing is going to begin?

regards

I heard that codesharing starts when CO initiates their daily IAH-AMS 764 flight, to complement KLM's 744 flight, in April. I've also heard that in April, CO will start sending a 764 on the EWR-AMS route. This was all pre-9/11 though.

However, the codesharing agreement was signed after 9/11

This is the press realese of KLM when they reached the agreement.

Amstelveen, October 22, 2001 – KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Continental Airlines have agreed to cooperate to provide significant travel and convenience benefits to the public by linking KLM’s European network with Continental’s U.S. network.

Subject to regulatory approval, as of December 1, 2001, KLM will connect its flights from Amsterdam to Continental’s hubs Houston and Newark with Continental’s domestic network through codesharing on all U.S. domestic services, operated by Continental and Continental Express from these hubs.

Continental will connect its Newark services to Amsterdam with KLM’s European network through codesharing on European flights from Amsterdam, operated by KLM and regional partners.

Both airlines see codesharing as helping to stimulate traffic and consequently increase their revenues during the current crisis in the airlines industry. The agreement is valid for six months and can be extended.

The two airlines have also agreed to provide travelers with reciprocal airport lounge access and loyalty program benefits. Members of KLM’s Flying Dutchman and Continental’s OnePass program will be able to accrue and redeem travel awards on the other airline’s flights.

In the light of the current circumstances in the industry, KLM is exploring opportunities leading to similar agreements with other airlines.

Continental Airlines is the domestic partnerairline of Northwest Airlines in the USA.

Emile:
The fact the KLM will cooperate with CO hasn't been mentioned in the newsletter.

Or am I wrong, klmfan?

I'd like to get to know you. It's so rare that we see here young female airliner enthousiasts. That's the reason, but obviously you don't have to if you don't want to...

Of course I want to get in contact with other enthusiasts! I was little bit irritated because I thought you wanted to talk about the KLM/CO cooperation... I'm sorry!

OK, I'll drop you a line soon.

It's strange indeed. There's no mention of any CO codeshare flight ex AMS to GVA or GOT. Moreover KLM never mentions that the codeshare agreement has been implemented. This leaves me to conclude that the governments haven't yet approved the codeshare agreement.

BTW Terminalc, how can you earn miles on flights which you can't buy? CO itself doesn't mention the codeshare flights in its reservation system.

Regards
Laurens

I called CO & was told that KLM will accept my Onepass# & will give the flight info to CO on a 'regular' basis. But the flights can't yet be booked via CO apparently. I'm about to do it. If there's any problem, I'll post!
