They're also getting rid of all of their B767s.

How many A320s will they have left? Will there be enough A320s to be able to operate Gulf Air's short and medium-haul destinations, or will they ply A330s on them now, like what Emirates is doing (with A330s, B777s)?

I am not surprised to hear about the A340, I never thought that they really needed it. (same goes for KU).

But I don't understand why they would want to lease thier A320's??? what about all the short huel flights with low volume?

So are they following in the QR, EK footsteps of making thier A330 the power house.. perhaps even ordering the A380 later on??

G'day

Gulf Air alay seemed to have too many A/C, some years back I flew on a Gulf Air 340 in Phillippine Air colors. Inside it was all Gulf, including pink (!) headphones.

I am glad 767s are going, never liked those. A nice fleete of A330 sounds great and some A380 later on? Wicked.

Respect.

So they are getting an all A330 fleet? I do think they need the A320 for the shorter haul routes within the Gulf Area.

Some member on PPRUNE suggests that GF's current fleet of 767's are in final pre-delivery checks at GAMCO - Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Co, so that they can be sold to its new owners.

Chepos - I am sure they are going to standarise with an all xclusiv fleet of A330 aircraft.

The A320's which are being sold are the oldest of the lot.

I don't think GF has sights on the A380.....not as yet anyway.

Confirmed with my own sources at both Gamco and GF that all 767s are going.

Additionally, two A340s are being leased out and 4 A320s are being sold. GF intends to acquire 2 - 3 A330s every year.

That said, there seems to be a lot of doubt about the ongoing viability of GF - and more importantly its shareholder's interest in keeping it running.

GF's current fleet

12 x A320s
5 x A340s
9 x B767's
6 x A330's (2 currently leased to TAM or are they sold ?) which brings it to 4.

Total = 30 aircraft

The two A330s TAM currently operates are on lease from GF.
