Effective January 1,2002, HA will move all operations in LAS to Terminal 2.
This terminal is much smaller and more convenient then the main terminal.
All passenger service/ ramp and cabin service will be handled by GlobeGround North America , a LH subsidary.
GlobeGround currently handles the charter operations.

The lines at the main terminal have been extremely long for check in and security. On arrival from LAX you will be off the plane and in a cab within 15 minutes of arrival VS taking the long tram ride from D gates.
The aircraft will be literally gated behind baggage claim
and the offload on the belt will begin before most of the pax enter the claim area, those are the pluses of terminal 2

Termanal 2 is very convenient but it is very old, or at least it looks old. They should really build a new one.

Terminal 2 is actually newer then the Main Terminal.
It has been re-vamped in the past 6 months.
New carpeting, fid screens .
Champion and Omni will be moving from the main Terminal as well in January.

Really, I guess I learn something new everyday. Thanks Lasbagman. Hey, do you see National moving to Termanal 2 anytime soon?

Hi Vegas456,

No National will stay at the main terminal.
Terminal 2 airlines are groundhandled by 2 companies:
GlobeGround North America, Which is owned by Lufthansa Airlines and Swissport USA which was recently sold by Swissair.
At onepoint there was talk that Frontier and Vanguard would move, but that will not happen now.
