AA's 587 Liability

The question assumes a great deal, perhaps somewhat fallaciously, but what kind of liability is AA looking at in the wake the 587 accident?

Of course, factors that would determine liability and its monetary value will be determined a long time from now by the NTSB's finding of cause, but at this point, assuming a worst-case scenario, would AA be facing an insurmountable financial burden?

A $525 million loss last quarter, coupled with the potential for making settlement payments and/or paying out a judgment, can't bode well...

I'm pretty sure AA will survive, but could the liability issues change that prognosis?

I would guess that AMR's lawyers will point a few fingers at Airbus. And Airbus will try to blame AMR somehow. I just hope the true cause isn't blurred with all the finger pointing.
