What airlines, past and present, have/had former pilots as President, chairman or CEO? Ones that come to mind are TWA, Crossair and Continental.
Any more?

Eastern Airlines had Frank Borman. Not a former line pilot, but he may qualify for your list as a former astronaut. And of Howard Hughes owned TWA. I think the founder of Fedex was an ex-Marine pilot.

Continental? Going back to the Bob Six days I see a line of guys featuring among others Al Feldman, Steve Wolf, Phil Bakes and now Gordon Bethune, none of which were pilots?

The last one - Gordon Bethune. I think I read here. OR heard it on the news.

Don't quote me, but I seem to remember that Gordon was an ex-Marine pilot. (Maybe Navy?)

Gordon Bethune of Coair flies back the new planes from Boeing on their delievery flights to Co's headquarters.
TWA CEO would fly some flights from time to time and I know he was captain of the last flight. Saw a photo myself!

cheers

Gordon is ex-US Navy but never worked as a commercial pilot. He is a licensed CPL type rated of the 757/767 and also holds (held?) an A&P. His industry background was primarily on the maintenance side at Braniff, Piedmont and Western and later on with Boeing. In other words, he is no more a *pilot become CEO* than Frank Borman or Dick Ferris was. The true *pilot* at CO is C.D.McLean who had almost 30 yrs at Piedmont.

G. W. Bush used to be a pilot in the Air National Guard if I remember right! Now he is a president!
