D-ABZE and ZH are serving FRA-YYZ until mid January 2002.
This is most likely the "final final" 747-200B service, because there are no plans to use them in the summer 2002 schedule.

D-ABYX is leaving for PHX and then MZJ in 30 minutes (i.e. today at 0845 a.m.)..

Thursday at 1150h a.m. will see the departure of D-ABZD.

Finally, on Friday, D-ABYP will be leaving FRA forever.

... so y'all better get your shots now!

Read the caption underneath this photo. That's what it implies.

Ooops, my mistake. I was under the impression that all of the airline's cargo jets carry "Lufthansa Cargo" titles.

...what an honor to have the Meister himself answer. I love your Boston photos!

TriStar500: thanks for the info! I have plans visiting the terrace on Friday afternoon/evening, maybe I should come a little bit earlier...

I think I should come tomorrow as well to catch ZD my last time  Crying

Ivica

Once again my question about the 742 names: 4 of those 8 remaining LH 742 still carried names of German states and capitals (NRW, Niedersachsen, Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel). Question to all FRA spotters: Did they still carry their names when they left for PHX/MZJ/MHV/etc.? Because I can't wait seeing those names on LH's newest 744s D-ABVX/Y/Z  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

When I went to see the grounded birds at Frankfurt Rhein-Main Military base 2 weeks ago, I could definitely make out Kiel and Nordrhein-Westfalen. The then other two aircraft parked there didn't carry a name, just registration.
But nice to hear, some of them are going to fly again.

Andreas

I know it's only VfB but I like it!

Yeah I'm also very interested in the fate of YM. That plane just always was my favorite! The last time I saw it was a few weeks ago in FRA. It looked so sad with the covered engines... well you can see a few of those pics here on a.net or on my website... Just look for the "Tribute to the Lufthansa 747-200"...

Max

Hi,
I have been at the terrace and I could take the last FRA shots of D-ABZD. Really sad that I will never see her again. She passed the observation deck, said good-bye, rolled to 25R and took-off into the grey sky over Frankfurt.  Crying
Next to me, there was the pilot that flew her from Everett to FRA in April 1986...

I think he was remembering all those nice experiences he had with this bird...

Good-bye, "ZD"!
We´ll miss you!

Regards,
Ivica Ramljak

btw: thanks to TriStar500 for the information!
