Is anyone familiar with Brackett Field Airport? It's located a couple of miles from Ontario International. The longest runway is almost 5,000 ft, and I was wondering if corporate jets are ever flown into and out of there. I saw on airnav.com that they offer JET-A fuel but no airplanes bases out of Brackett are jets. Anybody who can answer this question, I'd really appreciate your info. Thanks!

I have flown into Brackett a few times, and the largest thing I saw fly in and out of there was a Navajo. However saying that I think a DC-3 is based out of there. I am sure most things that suck Jet A are smallish turbo props like King Airs, Conquests, however I would not be surprised to see a couple small jets like Citation 500's and stuff.

When I started my career in aviation, my first job was with the Los Angeles County-Aviation Division. We owned and operated 5 GA airports, one of which was Brackett Field (the others were Fox Field in Lancaster, El Monte, Compton, and Whiteman in Pacoima). As recall, we had around 200-odd based airplanes, and the airport did all the aircraft fueling. That may have changed since I left in '87. I was raised about 5 miles from Brackett (in Claremont).

So have you ever seen any jets fly into or out of Brackett? What's the biggest jet-engined aircraft you've seen there?

Brackett Field sits directly across the street from
the NHRA Drag racing track at Pomona fairgrounds.
During the Drag races, I have seen Connie Kalittas
Executive jet take off from there. There are usually
a number of exec. jets there during the drags.
I have personally seen a Falcon jet and a Gulfstream
III take off from Brackett.

Anybody know what the weight restrictions are at Brackett? Thanks.

Well Compton is in...well....Compton!
You know....The 'Hood!
Whereas Brackett sits on the southeastern corner of the city of La Verne in a quiet, semi-rural/industrial area, with small quiet hills bordering it on the south and west sides.
I've actually gone there a few times. The "terminal" has a small cafe and an outdoor obs area that is pretty peaceful and quiet.
It's a charming little GenAv airport, and worty of a quick visit if you like private planes, and happen to be in the ONT area.

In 1987, the restaurant was in the main building (towards the right as I remember), and had excellent food. There was also a small, but well stocked, pilot's shop to the left next to the entrance.
As for the others, well.....Compton Airport is in Compton.....and then there's Whiteman. Brackett and El Monte had a greater percentage of corporate (not very high to begin with) traffic, while the others entertained more the public clientele.
Ah, the memories of my first real employer (after graduation). El Monte Airport was actually where I learned how to drive a stick-shift vehicle, and a fuel truck at that!

About Compton I have only circled over it (which is probably more dangerous then going in it). I have known a couple people to fly in there, but all they did was touch and goes, and taxi backs, they never got out of their aircraft. Also no one every went in there at night!

I've been to Brackett a few times and spent lots of time around that area (I had a friend who went to Pomona) and I've never seen a jet, corporate or any other kind fly into or out of there. I can't believe it's too common (or safe) for a jet as big as a GIII or a Lear 45 for that matter to fly into Brackett. The runway there is less than 5,000 ft. and only 75 ft. wide. Not a lot of margin for error during a gusty landing if you know what I mean.

brackett is a fun little airport....especially since after you takeoff on 26, you fly over a resevior, some camp grounds, a water park, and the VOR (if your in the pattern).

Ive seen some jets land there (while I was at the races). There is a guy who flies his citation in regularly at Cable, and that was a 3200x75 runway!

I've flown into Brackett several times and also watched traffic land/takeoff there while at the NHRA races across the street. Just about a month ago I saw a Lear depart, and a Citation and Gulfstream land. Besides that is alot of GA traffic and on raceday a hot air baloon.

The biggest aircraft I know of that has flown into Brackett was a Constellation. My friend along with a Lockheed buff (who shot it all on video) flew VFR from Burbank to Brackett on a sight seeing flight on a MATS Connie, the cost of this half hour flight was $350.

Last time I went to Brackett there were two former TOA Domestic Airlines NAMC YS-11 turboprop airliners parked there, fairly near the terminal... I've got photos of them somewhere. They flew out to Tucson. Before that, a derilict Boeing KC-97 sat there for a long time.

Oh my, I remember those TOA YS-11's, as well, now that you mention it.
As for the Cable Airport question, it's about 8 miles northeast of Brackett Field. Speaking of Cable, any of the oldtimers here remember the airshows they used to do back in the 70's (unsure if they still do them there) with all the Globe Swift's and that black gyrocopter?
