Heard that Skyservice is acquiring B757s. Can anyone confirm this?

Skyservice was to be wetleasing 2 B757's from Air2000 reg:OJ & OI....the SSV cabin crews(ex-c3-now-ssv) were in the process of being cross-trained to operate these a/c until the A-320's of Canada3000 were released by their creditors...the A320's were released today and the plug was pulled on the wet-lease deal from Air2000.

as was stated by Cmm340. No not getting any sort of aircraft. We are sticking to mainly airbus. Well with the exception of the nasty old 727's that we fly. C-GOKF and C-GSHI. SHI is the old sporthawk. but hopefully we will get rid of those nasty things soon. Give me my airbus!!

Those nasty 727's will still be flyable long after the airbuses have been recycled into pop bottles and plastic forks. It's just too bad that they sell them so cheap, otherwise no one in their right mind would buy them. IMHO  Smile

that's a great idea! Let's leave only one manufacturer to make commercial airplanes. Competition and choice is a terrible thing! And any company which comes along and tries something different, let's just get rid of them!!!

Actually is was Airbus' emergence that eliminated competition. The original A300 was not built to market demand, but simply with govt backing. Airbus' growth thereafter contributed to MDD's and Lockheed's pullback from the market place with new products.

Not an A vs B thing. Just my own opinion! So relax.






Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

I agree with you, the airbuses are fine but I like the boeing products better. I like to see airlines with different aircrafts like a 757 for example. The way I look at it is, if the demand goes up for a flight, they can only offer the 330 (remember this is skyservice) with the 757 for example they can offer an extra 40-60 seats, supply and demand thing, thats all.

They should look at getting a few 321, and some 319's to balance in the future,

I personally love 757's, but there are a few problems with it. It is expensive (market demand, I guess) and it is very tight in charter configuration, tighter than the Airbuses. So for the average paying passenger, in the single aisle market, the Airbuses are more comfortable.

But ooooh my heart pounds with the roar of those RR RB211's in that high nose up take off of the 757. I will miss the bird.

But for a charter airline pax comfort is not priority, and they cram them in because the plane is expensive to lease, but you get what you pay for. The 321 is no good for charters airlines in canada because it just barely makes it to Vancouver and thats with the aux tanks installed, never mind long thin flights to mexico, or Europe, especially in a single class layout

hence the reason why the A319 of C3 is being sent out to YVR. Longer range than the A320, but maintains fleet commonality for SSV.
A319 was rumoured to possibly do:
YYZ-YHZ-YYT-LGW in summer seasons, similar to the former Canadi>n route

Would Skyservice be intrested in picking up those Airbus A330-200's. It might be a problem because of the Engine choice....SSV has PW 4068s and the C3 has the GE CF680's. Someone should take them. I cant stand to see them just sitting at the airport just collecting some dust.

Not to mention...those GE's suck, Angus Kinnear always regretted going for that engine type with his A330's, they were always mechanical somewhere for something wrong with the engines.
I think SSV can do without "wiskey-argh!!", "wiskey-broken", "wiskey-crap", and "wiskey-dangerous".

What about the A310's, I know I know not common witht the rest of the plastic family, but that cost may be offset by their cheap lease. They would be a good in between from the 320 to the 330-300, there are lots of 310 drivers out of work, and the plane, although it could use some work on the inside, served it's purpose very very well at royal, that may be something they want to look at for the summer season, those 4 airplanes were amazing for the thinner PondHops like Munich, or DUS.
