Indigo Air from Chicago, USA, has agreed to buy up to 75 Embraer Legacy business jets with a potential value of US$ 1,1 billion. The deal includes 25 firm orders and options for 50 additional aircraft.
Flying since summer 2000, Indigo sells individual seats on charter aircraft flying four weekday roundtrips between MDW and Terteboro. Using Falcon 20s, that service is currently targeted at the airlines high-yield business travelers and is priced competitively with full-fare coach tickets.
Based on the ERJ-135LR, the Indigo aircraft will be fitted with 19 passenger seats in a business-class configuration.
Prior to the Indigo order, Embraer said the Legacy order book stood at 92 (including firm orders and options).
