CX was one of the original member of the Work Together team for designing the 777-200 and a launch customer for the 777-300.
But their A340-600 are leased from ILCF, does this still makes them a launch customer???

Thank you for all the replies. It seems it's very hard to say who is the launch customers. Anyway, if CX is making financial lease from ILFC, then it would make no diff. from owning the acfts. Financial lease would be a good way to save some money. So it would be an financial decision rather than an opearational decision.
It would be a financial lease if CX do all the maintenance for the leasing acfts.

Air Canada is supposed to get their first A340-600 next August. Not sure, but I THINK this is earlier than CX's originally planned deliveries. VS' first two 346's are due in June, but I have no idea what's happening with those. SR's first 346 was due in July, so if CX is getting SR's, and VS is not getting any, then maybe that would make CX first? whew....

A few months ago, I believe! I'm not sure myself, but it came up in several threads on here, in the summer. I don't know what the original order was, but Bill Harms' (usually reliable) website currently shows two -600's and 3 500's coming (or the other way around), with one of the -600's actually being first. I believe this is accurate as of right now. But i don't know what was behind the decision, or if there is any press release or anything.
