Is it still the nonstop flight from Hong Kong to New York City? Do CO or CX still operate those flights? What is it like to be stuck up there for 15-plus hours?

The longest I've been on is from SYD to

CO is still operating it non-stop, while CX have a stop in Canada (I keep forgetting where).

The world's longest nonstop flights are:

Newark, NJ to Hong Kong on Continental
Atlanta, GA to Johannesburg, S.A. on SAA

CX stops in YVR i believe. Also, doesn't SAA operate a JNB-JFK route? Is this shorter or longer than to ATL, (maybe crossing the ocean is shorter this way?) or do they stop somewhere?

JFK-JNB is nonstop and pretty long.
Also CDG-SCL nonstop is a really long flight.

Good topic for sure here! I was just thinking about this again the other day. I remember when I was flying SFO-SYD a few years ago I had an Airways magazine discussing who has "the longest non stop flight". A lot of different concepts of who really has the longest flight came into play and what really should be considered the longest of all... Those points were compared with over all distance flown and over all flying time. I remember JFK-JNB was considered the worlds longest non stop with overall distance and ORD-HKG was just behind it with distance. However ORD-HKG averaged a longer flight time then JFK-JNB. Now I know alot of these flights like EWR-HKG, ORD-HKG and even LAX-HKG have scheduled flight times of 15 hours and 45 minutes or so. And in most cases the predicted flight time scheduled does not occur. I would think at this time of year ORD-HKG and EWR-HKG are pushing just about that time with the jet stream coming south and speed increasing in westerly winds. I have never flown ORD-HKG, only LAX so I am unfamiliar with the route flown. If it doesnt fly the polar route and the EWR flight does, I would think ORD has the longest flight time out of any flight. Or does ORD fly a similar route to EWR-HKG? In my oppinion the worlds longest commerical nonstop flight should be in flight time not distance. Although distance is highly relevant in such a case, the time spent on an airplane is more relevant to "longest non stop flight" I think. So if anyone is more familiar with what I have mentioned in this LOOONG post then I would love to hear and learn more!
