I know many would work for whichever airline offered them a job. BUT if you had your choice:

New airline (less than 10 years old)? Like Jet Blue, Airtran, Vanguard, et al
-uncertain future
-chance to be senior quickly
-small and more personal employee relations
-less money/benefits

Commuter? Skywest. Comair.
-less money/benefits
-chance to be senior more quickly
-ability to bid to be home everynight

Big Freight? UPS. Fedex. DHL.
-no passengers
-good money/benefits
-night flying
-stable demand

Big airline? UAL, BA, AMR
-good money/benefits
-pass priviledges to varied locals
-choices (ie intl or domestic on varied aircraft types)
-more at risk to economic pressures
-terrorism concerns

Southwest?
-great culture
-good money/benefits
-only one aircraft for entire career (good or bad?)
-difficult scheduling (they fly much more than others)

International carrier with little domestic feed? Virgin.
-limited destinations

Corporate?
-great equipment
-varied desinations
-uncertain future in tough times

Other choices I have mentioned?

What would you choose for a long career and why?

I would like to work for an airline with:

-An uncertain future
-less money/benefits
-no passengers
-more risk with economic concerns
-only one aircraft for entire career
-difficult scheduling

Oh wait, that sounds like Great Lakes!

I would like to work for NWA. They have a great family for being international and everything else about them is great. They are not too big and not too small for an Intl. airline.
