I will be going to IAH to do some spotting at night. Not to take pics, but just to look at planes. Can anyone give me detailed directions to the spotting area right before runway 27? Also, can you see the planes good at night? Thanks!

Can't say if you'll be able to see too many planes after dark at the Lee Rd. spotting area...however, you might want to be careful as its rather remote.

Directions: Lee Rd. runs north south and crosses the eastern entrance road to the airport-Will Clayton Pkwy. Turn south from Will Clayton whichever direction you are traveling and its to the left about 500 yards south.

Why? If it is remote, I can't hit anything.

His concern is not that you will hit anything, but that something may take advantage of said remoteness to hit you .....

The Lee Rd. spotting area is fairly good IMO. Cops and others often frequent the area, so I wouldn't be afraid of too much around there. I don't think I would go there if it looked COMPLETELY deserted though.
You can also check an area by off near Greens Road, by the western-most runway(forgot the #), there is another great spotting opportunity, though it's mainly takeoffs.
Oh, and you may just possibly get a little sick of seeing CO!

The runways near Greens and Rankin Road would be 15/33L and R.
