Has anyone heard of a Mexican airline called AVIACSA? They don't fly here to Tijuana, but I know they fly further south and to points in the USA. I've seen pics some of their 727s at MEX. But when I appoched the ticket counter to ask for a timetable I was told that they didn't produce a printed one.

I think you're wrong. They do fly to Tijuana, as a matter of fact, I passed by Tijuana International Airport about 2 weeks ago and saw a 727-200 of theirs. I did pass by the ticket counter inside the airport and I saw that they had several flights out of Tijuana. As a matter of fact, they do fly internationaly.
Aviacsa fly's to Las Vegas and Dallas from Monterrey. I just heard that they purchased or leased 6 737-200's from Air New Zealand. That means that they are getting rid of their 727's and DC-9-10s

You can visit their website @ www.aviacsa.com.mx

Have a happy new year

Are your it was AVIACSA and not Aerolinas Internacionales (which flies daily to from TIJ to Hermosillo and Cuernavaca)?

Yes, Planenutz, I am sure that I saw an Aviacsa plane at Tijuana. It was there on Saturaday around 2-3:00 pm. Do you live in Tijuana? I don't remember about the ticket counter but I did see the aviacsa plane for sure. I know that it was full, because there were a lot of people getting ready to board it. The only other plane there that time was an AeroCalifornia DC-9

Thats great! I live in L.A. but whenever I pass by Tijuana I always have to pass by the airport because I always use the border crossing up there. It's a much shorter time wait.

I kind of like Tijuana International because they they have made the parking structure so well suted for watching of planes landing and taking off. By the way do you know what that ex-Okada Air (Nigeria) 747-100 is doing there. I have seen it twice when I passed by and it looks like it's missing the nose and the engines. I like that plane because I believe that it was one of the original ex-Pan Am 747's

Yes, the Otay-Mesa border crossing is much less time consuming when crossing the border.

That 747 you mention has been parked at the old Aeromexico cargo building for as long as I can remember. I believe that is was once purchased to be stripped for parts by an American firm, but was so delapitated and un-airworthy it never made it to its final destination and they decided to strip it there. I know nothing of its history though.

Hi

One quick correction, it's Houston not Dallas that they serve in the US. They come here daily, around 11:40 with non-stop service to Monterrey. They fly in DC-9s mostly but on occasion 727s. Their new 732s will debut here pretty soon.
